Why MightyKidz?

I have always been drawn to working with children. When my twin boys were in kindergarten, I found a path to getting a license as a Special Education teacher. I loved my work as a public school teacher. I loved having a team to learn from and draw our strengths as a cohesive group to advocate, build, and support the best systems for our students. I adored the population we worked with, to be their advocate, instructor, and cheerleader. 

 

I left after 10 years of teaching to start my own tutoring practice. It is heaven on earth; all the things I loved about my job, but now I can focus on one student at a time and really make and see changes. I’ve been tutoring for 10 years. I have seen such growth, such confidence in the students I work with. I strive to craft my lessons to meet each student's individual strengths, challenges, and passions. While building skills for reading through Orton Gillingham, my tutoring sessions also serve

 as a platform for their interests, always finding ways for them to see what they are capable of and all that they bring to their world. 

 

I am so privileged to have a career that I so thoroughly enjoy. My husband and I always dreamed of living outside of the United States, so we are splitting our time in Denver and in our house in Panama and tutoring virtually allows me to have all my dreams come true.
